Blasts Rattle Riyadh as Saudi Arabia Hit by Deadliest Houthi Attacks So Far

Saudi-led forces in Yemen said they intercepted two missiles targeting Riyadh. The kingdom is on edge after the authorities said strikes killed three people on Wednesday.

The sound of explosions rattled Saudi Arabia’s capital on Thursday morning as the war between the Iran-backed Houthi militia in Yemen and a Saudi-led military coalition escalated, amid fears of a widening regional conflict that has embroiled multiple countries and strained energy markets.

The attacks on the Saudi capital raise pressure on Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the kingdom’s de facto leader, as the escalating conflict with the Houthis threatens his plans to turn his country into a business and tourism hub.
